In this role you will need to ensure compliance with BHP Billiton commitment to zero harm, which will include demonstrating a record of uncompromised values of safety and the environment, integrity, high performance, win-win relationships, courage to lead change and respect for each other. The purpose of the role is to lead and manage the Maintenance and Engineering function at Departmental level, to essentially support the specific operation by optimising equipment reliability and capability in a safe and sustainable manner through the application of best practice planning and execution.
Serious contenders will have a Government Certificate of Competency (Mines and Works) coupled with a National Diploma in Engineering (4 years) or B Sc Mechanical/Electrical coupled with a minimum of 5 years general working experience as an Engineer of which at least 2 years should have been in a supervisory role. Successful candidates will be computer literate in MS Office, have SAP Knowledge, Opencast or Underground Coal Mining experience as well as a Professional Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
